Smurfs' Village Wiki

Smurfs' Village is a free-to-play casual town-building game originally developed by Beeline Interactive Inc., a division of Capcom Co., Ltd. It is currently maintained by PopReach Incorporated, which is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Initially released in North America for the iOS platform on November 4, 2010,[1] the game was fully released worldwide on November 11, 2010. As of November 17, 2010, it overtook Angry Birds as the top-grossing iPhone game.[2] On July 15, 2011, Beeline Interactive Japan Co., Ltd. released a unique Japanese version of the game. In September 2011, Smurfs' Village reached 15 million downloads worldwide. Since its release, Smurfs' Village has expanded to the Android platform.[3]

Smurfs' Village has been installed on up to 10 million Android phones between March and April 2012.[4] As of March 2012, the game has reached 56 million downloads.[5] Due to its immense success, Beeline also released other Smurf-themed games for iOS and Android, such as Smurfs' Grabber and Smurf Life. Together with Flashman Games LLC, Bongfish GmbH acquired the rights to all of Capcom's Smurfs catalogue in 2016.[6] Popreach Incorporated, whose founder was involved in the initial launch of Smurfs' Village back in 2010, took over the game in late 2019.[7]

Players are guided through a brief tutorial at the very beginning of the game. In the aftermath of Gargamel's attack, the Smurfs were scattered throughout the enchanted forest. The player then needs to create a new home for the Smurfs by building a replacement village.

In Smurfs' Village, the player acts as the overall planner of the titular Smurfs' village, looking down on it from above, being responsible for its growth and management. Players are free to choose building placement and direct the Smurfs to perform certain tasks, such as going on missions and tending to crops. In order to develop the village, the player has to harvest crops, build huts, and collect resources.

The primary currencies in the game are Coins and Smurfberries. Being a free-to-play mobile game, Smurfs' Village features a time-based "produce and upgrade" mechanism, which can be skipped using the game's premium currency, Smurfberries. Players may also earn experience points by performing different kinds of activities. As the player accumulates XP points and goes through levels, more kinds of crops, buildings, and decorations become available. A player can spend real money to buy Smurfberries.

Other features found in the game include minigames mainly based on classic arcade games. Smurfs may also provide the player with quests, allowing them to earn XPs and unlock more in-game areas.
